Avenged Sevenfold Live At The Garden – Hit Or Miss?
This past Friday night, Avenged Sevenfold took the stage at the legendary Madison Square Garden. Mike Bufis, My co-host for Metal With The Mikes joined me for a night out and boy was it a lot of fun.
They came out and started off with “Game Over” – the opening track from their latest album “Life Is But A Dream….” It was kind of unique, because frontman M. Shadows sat for the majority of the opening track until the 2nd heavy movement kicked in and then he came out of his chair to work the crowd in tremendous fashion! From there we then were treated to “Life Is But A Dream….” Standout track “Mattel.” Brooks Wackerman on drums was solid all night, even throwing in some extra double bass licks to make things all the more heavy. There were video screens behind them which had some great imagery all night as well.
There were a number of tracks from the latest release. But A7X knows it’s fans want to hear some old school stuff as well. They threw in “Afterlife” from the self-titled album which sounded so good – especially with the entire arena singing with them! “Hail To The king” The title track from there 2012 album was also a crowd favorite. Mike Bufis and I were very excited when they threw in “Unholy Confessions” from “Waking The Fallen.”
The encore wasn’t my particular favorite, but it was still cool to hear how well they can perform this new stuff live.
Overall, it was a stellar show with some really cool moments. And A7X fans in attendance know the band still has it and is going strong!
