Remembering the Great Tony Bennett With John Pizzarelli On “All Mixed Up”
Like many of us, singer/guitarist John Pizzarelli grew up with the music of Tony Bennett.
The difference for John is that his dad Bucky Pizzarelli and Bennett were friends with Bucky having appeared on some of Bennett’s recordings.
John has followed in his dad’s footsteps (Bucky played on EVERYONE‘s records from Dion DiMucci to Roberta Flack to Janis Ian to Robert Palmer to Paul McCartney) and has enjoyed a 40-year career as a recording artist.
Following the death this past week of the great Tony Bennett, John joined Jim Monaghan on “All Mixed Up” to chat about Tony Bennett’s legacy, his dad, working with James Taylor and Paul McCartney, and how he chooses what songs to cover on his own records.
