Weirds News – We Can Probably Just Blame Everything On the Nerds
There’s no one better qualified than the one and (thankfully) only Executive Producer Michael Fuzzy Lee to gather Weird News for us and it appears we can blame those nerds for just about everything.
Today in Weird News, police in Duluth, Minnesota, say 37-year-old Travis Carlson owned a duplex and lived on the upper level. A 911 call came in and police responded to the house, which was engulfed in flames while the 1989 Billy Joel hit “We Didn’t Start the Fire” played. A neighbor also reported seeing Carlson wearing a helmet and smashing his own windows like a deranged nerd.
That’s a good song choice if you want to create a playlist. You could add “Burning Down the House” from Talking Heads. They used that song for the Alpha Beta House party in Revenge of the Nerds. And if I remember correctly, it didn’t end all too well for them, and I think it was the fault of the nerds.
“Let’s get those nerds. Nerds, nerds! What are we waiting for?”
The Alpha Betas? They’re such go-getters.
Also in Weird News, Carissa Brown from Minnesota says that she was in her car, and out of nowhere, a shower of poop fell on a couple of cars in a line at a drive-thru. She said it stunk, and she immediately believed it was feces. She assumed it must have been waste from a plane flying overhead.
“Attention all passengers. For entertainment purposes only, we will now release human waste over a drive-thru restaurant as we attempt to bullseye Miss Brown’s coffee with our new flavored creamer we call Pico Fiasco. Bombs away.”
“What the hell is that?”
And lastly, in Weird News, a woman in Tennessee took herself to the emergency room after her boyfriend admitted to putting something special in her salad. When she arrived at the hospital, she tested positive for meth.
“Well, that sucks.”
I wonder if that’s his own recipe or one of those secret family recipes handed down over the generations. Very innovative. I think it will taste even better with grilled chicken on top.

“When I was a kid I stayed at a bed & breakfast with family photos on the walls,” one user wrote. “There was a sister named Gridget. I actually think about this a lot.” It’s kind of like a spin on the name Bridget. This Redditor seems really stuck on the name they found.

This unique name caught this person off guard. They even tried to figure it out by mixing it with other names. “I once saw a baby announcement where the mom was named Shannon, the dad was Daniel, and they named the baby Shanniel,” they wrote.

Dyslexia
Sometimes people just go with the flow when picking a name for their kid. Maybe it felt right at the time, and they didn’t even realize it’s also the name of a condition. While working at a gas station, this Reddit user observed a mother who let her child run around wild. They wrote “One small girl was pushing on a display stand and the mother screamed: ‘DYSLEXIA GET YO A– OVER HERE!”

Donnaria
Back in school on the playground, this person probably had a rough time. This is particularly true because their name coincidentally rhymes with a sexually transmitted disease. Nevertheless, a user pointed out that it’s a clever fusion of two names. “Donnaria. A combination of her Mom’s name (Donna) and Grandma’s name (Gloria),” they wrote.
Alcoholic Beverages
Bacardi, Hennessy, Tanqueray, Alizé – the names keep coming. It turns out a Redditor, who happened to work in children and family services, encountered kids with names inspired by alcoholic beverages almost every day. “You don’t know how bad it really gets. Lots of kids named after alcoholic beverages.”
