A Real Bear Wants To Get In On Disney’s Country Bear Jamboree Act
Bears in Florida aren’t as commonplace as alligators, but it’s not all that unusual to see one. That is, unless you’re on Disney’s Big Thunder Mountain rollercoaster and you spot one in a tree.
FLORIDA MAN STRIKES AGAIN!
DATELINE – Disney World.
You may have heard about this story. The Country Bear Jamboree is a very, very popular attraction at Disney World in Orlando. It’s a stage show, of course, featuring audio-animatronic figures.
Most of those characters are bears who perform country music, characters that come up on the stage on platforms. They’re coming down from the ceiling. They appear from behind curtains. And the audience also includes audio-animatronic animal heads that are mounted on walls who interact with the characters on stage.
Well, it’s not unusual, therefore, to see a bear at Disney World, except this one happened to be real.
Someone spotted a bear in a tree a couple of days ago near Disney’s Big Thunder Mountain roller coaster. As a result, about a dozen attractions had to close temporarily, including Big Thunder Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, the Haunted Mansion, and well, this is fitting, of course, the Country Bear Jamboree show.
The whole park had longer wait times than usual. While the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission dealt with it, Disney put out a statement saying they were working on capturing and relocating the bear, which they did.
Now, Florida has black bears, about 400 of them. It’s not totally unusual to see it, just not perhaps in the middle of Disney World.
Thankfully, it was released. No injuries reported to Florida Man, Florida Woman or Florida Child.
And they say it was probably moving through the area looking for food to pack on weight for the winter.
Or maybe it was auditioning to be a real member of the Country Bear Jamboree show.
