What Happens When Florida Man Thinks He Is Being Harassed By A Police Drone
Florida Man and paranoia know each other especially well. So what happens when Florida Man thinks he is being harassed by a police drone?
The result is some chaos, a small fire, and ten years behind bars.
FLORIDA MAN STRIKES AGAIN!
DATELINE – Ocala, Florida and the Saga of Florida Man Wendell Doyle Goney.
It seems that Lake County Sheriff’s deputies had responded to a burglary at a ten-acre industrial property. According to a plea agreement, deputies used a $29,000 drone in an outdoor search of the area of the industrial park involving the burglary.
Well, it seems that gunfire from a neighboring residential property caused that drone to crash onto a metal roof and catch fire.
According to prosecutors, deputies went to the property where they found Goney, who said, yeah, I shot it down. He used a .22 caliber rifle.
Why did he shoot it down? He told the investigators because it was harassing him.
I don’t know that that was a really good reason.
A record check showed that Goney had 29 Florida felony convictions, including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence, illegal drug possession, burglary, and, oh, yeah, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
He’s not supposed to have that .22 in the first place.
He’s been sentenced to ten years in federal prison. It’ll give him plenty of time to think about his actions.
