Three Reasons Why We Feel We HAVE To Post That On Social Media
Facebook Theater is our own little slice of everyday life, highlighting some of the more bizarre things that happen in our lives that we just can’t wait to post online.
Ever wonder why people share so much personal information on social media?
There are any number of reasons but the top three seem to be –
- A desire to connect with other people. It can be friends and family, or it can be total strangers. We just want to feel a common bond, especially if we’re geographically separated from those friends and family members.
- It’s an opportunity to express yourself and share a part of your identity. Maybe we’re talking about a hobby we have, or a special interest we want to point out.
- WE WANT ATTENTION AND VALIDATION. LOOK AT ME! I SAID LOOK AT ME!
Number 3 is probably the one that entertains us the most so let’s get after it with today’s episode of Facebook Theater.
Welcome to another edition of WDHA’s Facebook Theater – private drama performed publicly because we just need you to know.
- I’m not one to brag, but I got my teenage son to come with me to get pumpkins. I had to bribe him with lunch and he had his airpods in the whole time and barely talked to me, but whatever.
- After nine years of marriage, I can always guess what’s bothering my wife. I’m never right, but I can always guess. I suppose I could just ask her, but what’s the fun in doing that?
- I suggested to my wife that we buy these $5 pumpkins at Walmart and save money and everyone’s happy. Instead, she decided that we should buy 2 pumpkins for $376 at the pumpkin patch, yell at the kids for 2 hours trying to take cute pictures and then everyone goes home mad and crying.
