Only Florida Man Would Take A Stolen Ambulance Straight To the Police
A stolen ambulance isn’t exactly an easy vehicle to miss. Especially if it’s driven by Florida Man who takes it straight to the police station.
FLORIDA MAN STRIKES AGAIN!
DATELINE – Columbia County, and the Saga of Florida man Stanley Williams.
First, let me set the scene for you. Have you ever been in an ambulance? Hopefully not for anything really serious. I got injured in a softball game some years ago in Central Park in the city and needed to be taken to a hospital.
Nothing serious, as I said, but there was a little kid in the ambulance with me. We’re both going to the same hospital. He’s a little scared. He’s like eight or nine years old. And somebody in the ambulance saw that and said, you want us to turn the siren on?
Well, this kid’s face lit up. This was the coolest thing. Here we are driving through Manhattan and the sirens going. So it kind of put the kid at ease a little bit.
I don’t know if that’s what happened with Florida Man Stanley Williams or not. Here are the details.
Few days ago, first responders are at the scene helping someone who was, “experiencing an altered mental state.” Probably took some drugs.
Well, Williams decided, hey, I’m going to take the ambulance for a ride. And he drove away from the scene.
I don’t know if he started the sirens and the lights going or what have you, but at any rate, the police notice what’s going on. They take off after the ambulance.
Well, during the ensuing chase, the ambulance struck a curb and then Williams, behind the wheel, steered the ambulance right into the entrance of the sheriff’s office’s operations center. According to the sheriff’s office, Williams drove across the front lawn before stopping near the main entrance, and he was arrested soon after. He was also then taken to a local hospital for examination.
The police reaction
Sheriff Mark Hunter said, “It’s not every day a pursuit ends at our front door. This just goes to show that we never know what we will encounter from one moment to the next.” Hunter continued, “I’m glad nobody was hurt and the suspect was not able to pose a greater risk to our community.”
Other than minor damage to the lawn, there was no damage to the sheriff’s office’s property. Williams now facing charges of grand theft and fleeing from law enforcement enforcement.
Although if he drove himself straight to law enforcement, maybe they’ll drop the fleeing from law enforcement charge. I don’t know.
Either way, I don’t think he could have possibly made it any easier for the cops to get a hold of him.
