Talk about giving someone a hot foot! People will do some strange things to stay warm. In the case of one Florida Man, a warming fire ended up with one of his shoes on fire.
And did we mention that alcohol was involved?
FLORIDA MAN STRIKES AGAIN!
DATELINE - Lady Lake, Florida and the Saga of Florida Man Michael Dubberly, who was arrested and charged with disorderly intoxication and setting recreational fires.
And that's only part of what happened.
An incident that unfolded outside of a real estate office a few days ago. According to a report from the lake police Department, officers arrived on the scene to find Dubberly passed out in front of the building with one of his shoes fully engulfed in flames, right in front of him.
I sincerely hope that shoe was not on his foot.
Of course there was alcohol involved
The fire was about 5ft from the front entrance of the building and it was put out by one of the officers. So in addition to the shoe on fire, next to Dubberley were three cans of alcoholic beverages.
One was empty, one he was working on, and a third hadn't been opened yet.
Apparently what happened was, according to police, they said Dubberly built a warming fire and left it unattended because he passed out while there was still visible flame and smoke. That's when his shoe must have caught on fire.
He was taken into custody. He said he started the fire to keep warm and said he only drank one. Mike's Hard Lemonade Tall Boy. It must have been a tall boy, all right.
However, the police did observe that Dubberly was not steady on his feet and was difficult to stand when he spoke. They also said they could smell a strong odor of alcohol on his breath.
He was transported to the Lake County jail, where he was put in on a $1,000 bond and hopefully, he got himself a new pair of shoes out of the deal.
