I'm not exactly sure why, but I have very vivid memories of my first Pop-Tart.

My dad called me into the kitchen and said, "You have to try this!"

If you know me, you know I have a bit of a sweet tooth, something I inherited from both parents. My mom loved chocolate, and my dad could sometimes be found eating a piece of cherry pie at 7 AM for breakfast.

Which brings us back to Pop-Tarts.

I'm not sure where or how my dad found out about them, but he had a box of brown sugar cinnamon ones and from the first moment I took a bite, I was hooked.

We had Pop-Tarts for breakfast. We had Pop-Tarts for an after-school snack.

And if I wanted a little extra fruit in my diet, well bring on the strawberry-flavored Pop-Tarts!

But wait...there's more.

I discovered that if you took a Pop-Tart right out of the toaster and combined it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, you have one of the Ultimate Kid Desserts!

Pop Tart à la Mode!

I mention this because a guy named Bill Post passed away on February 10. You may not know who he was, but he was a former Keebler employee, who was credited with inventing Pop-Tarts.

At first, there were just four flavors - strawberry, blueberry, the aforementioned brown sugar cinnamon, and apple currant. Later frostings would be added and additional flavors totaling more than 20 different varieties.

My go-to Pop-Tart is still brown sugar cinnamon, but if I really want to spice things up, I go for the frosted version.

And yes, I am still tempted to top it off with a scoop of ice cream.

Thanks, Bill Post.

"Once there were Pop-Tarts, I could not understand why other types of food continued to exist."

"If you gotta zap fry your pop tarts.... you might wanna loosen up your schedule!"

Many people like adventurous, action-packed dates. Something thrilling or daring, or just active in general really suits these folks. Others are into your basic restaurant followed by a film. My wife and I enjoy concerts, the movies, and going for walks at various parks and trails.

No single place is going to be suitable for everyone’s interests or preferences. That's just how it goes. But, there are so many things to do in New Jersey, hopefully, you can find something on this list that sounds like something you’d try!

And let me say this, if you’re just not feeling any of these or you prefer to just sit at home, there’s nothing wrong with that.
