When Will the NFL Schedule for 2024-25 Be Released?
Now that the NFL Draft has wrapped up, everyone is talking about when the NFL schedule for the 2024-25 season will be released. People are planning their fall travel plans, so football fans that want to travel to catch the action are especially excited for the roster of games to roll out. So, when will the NFL schedule be released?
When Will the NFL Schedule for 2024-25 Be Released?
The day the NFL schedule is released has become quite a major moment in the offseason. When it happens, each team in the NFL dramatically reveals their upcoming roster of games and whether those games will be at home or on the road. The first game of the season is always a big one, too, because it features the reigning Super Bowl champions against another team. This year, that will be the Kansas City Chiefs at home against an opponent. In 2023, the opening game was the Detroit Lions at the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Lions won, which kicked off a historically great season for Detroit.
According to the NFL, the NFL schedule release will take place in May, but the league hasn’t announced an exact date yet. Right now, they have a statement up saying, “The wait is almost over! Get ready for the NFL season with 2024 NFL Schedule Release presented by Verizon. The dates will be set, primetime matchups will be known, and every game will be revealed.” They add that the full NFL schedule release is coming in May and will be available to watch on the NFL Network and streaming on NFL+, with additional coverage on ESPN2. I’m excited for the NFL schedule reveal, and a bunch of my X (formerly Twitter) friends have been tweeting at me asking when the schedule might be out, because they know I’m a football girl and sports podcaster.
Based on previous years, the schedule will be released in the first half of May. Last season, the schedule was released on May 11, 2023. Certain special dates, such as the Black Friday and Christmas Day games, were announced before the full schedule was released, too. If you’re looking to purchase single-game tickets, the NFL says individual tickets for the 2024-25 NFL season will be available as soon as the games are announced.
