The Police are releasing a box set. No, not a career-spanning one with all of their albums. No, not one just with Rarities and B Sides. This one will celebrate Synchronicity. Let’s take a look at 5 Reasons You Need The Police Box Set!
It’s a Great Final Album
For their final album, The Police went out with a bang. 1983’s Synchronicity has some superb moments. Besides having their biggest hit ever. They have some deep tracks which are phenomenal and some other singles that definitely could make up a best of album!
The Box Set Has Unreleased Material
To be exact, it has 55 previously unreleased tracks. Think about how cool the 11 songs that made the final cut are. Now, think of hearing a ginormous batch of songs that didn’t make it? There’s got to be some cool material mixed into that bag that is really good! Sure, not of all it is bound to blow you away, but maybe you’ll hear some unreleased song that winds up becoming one of your favorites!
Demos, Demos, Demos!
Some of the unreleased materials are Stings demos for tunes. That’s always fun to hear. To kind of see where a song came from or how it started and how it was built upon by the rest of the band. Surely, that will be fun to check out!
The Police Knew How To Put On A Live Show!
This huge box set also has live tracks that were recorded back in 1979 in Miami, L.A. in ’81 and Atlanta in 1983. Plus, a whole live show from 1983 at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum in California. To watch The Police live was something extraordinary. They had so much energy and were masters of their instruments. It’s sure going to be fun to hear this live material.
Bonus Material!
The set also features new interviews with the band and unseen band photographs from that period. Sure, there was tension in the band. But it’s got to be cool to check out photos and read quotes from the members who made this awesome record!
Available in numerous configurations, including CD, vinyl, and digitally, it will be released on July 26th!!

5 Ways The Shinedown Debut Album Rocks Hard
This week marks the anniversary of the debut album, “Leave A Whisper,” from Shinedown. Let’s take a look at 5 ways the Shinedown Debut album rocks hard!
When I first heard of Brent Smith and company I didn’t know what to expect. The long-haired, charismatic frontman definitely had/has pipes, it was clear to anyone who heard their first single to promote the album, “Fly From The Inside.” Brent showed off his chops right away and the rest of the band sounded super tight on that first listen as well.
To this day, we love Shinedown partially because they shake things up a bit. You don’t know exactly what you’re going to get from album to album or even song to song. It may be a ballad. It might contain odd or unique sounds and instruments. It might be an upbeat in-your-face rocker. Whatever you get, you know the band’s heart is in it and it’s fueled by a love of what they do.
Not to mention the fact that they love radio and know how to write a hit. They’re constantly churning out, big, monstrous songs that rock radio eats up! It’s like they’ve found the technique and aren’t letting up. That isn’t to say they don’t take chances. I mean look at their concept album “Attention, Attention.” Or how about some of the emotional lyrics they’ve been able to write over the last few years with the latest example being “A Symptom of Being Human.”
Plus, live in concert? They just know how to bring it. Every. Single. Time. It’s actually crazy that a band could sound that good any time you see them. They are powerful, play the hits, and blow you away with their energy. And it all started with “Leave A Whisper” all the way back in 2003.
Here are 5 ways the Shinedown Debut album Rocks hard!
LOST IN THE CROWD
They slow down the pace, but still rock hard. Haven't we all felt lost in the crowd at moments? they're lyrics are always accessible and you can feel that emotion.
BETTER VERSION
Love this simple guitar riff that kicks off the song. It's got a really intriguing vibe. And Brent brings those awesome vocals!! We all want to be a better version of ourselves.
ALL I EVER WANTED
It brings a country twang as it starts up. Brent gives us a big verse. Then of course we get an even bigger chorus. It's awesome and really hard rockin'!!
45
This one is heartbreaking, but still so powerful. A very enormous chorus you can't help but sing along to. Despite the dark lyrics.
LACERATED
I love the drums on this one. And when everything comes together, it's next level! A song that sounds exciting and of course about a girl. LOL!
