WATCH: Skid Row’s Rachel Bolan On Music, Marriage, Mz. Hyde and More
Skid Row. New Jersey legends! It’s Terrie Carr and it was fantastic to catch up with Skid Row bassist Rachel Bolan who has returned to New Jersey, (after years in Nashville, and Atlanta-Rachel is home again) who checks in with me to talk New Jersey roots, Skid Row memories, his relationship and collaboration with Lzzy Hale, potential Skid Row vocalists, new music, a September live release and more. When I have artists that are from our state on the “Reconnect” feature, it’s special to me.
Skid Row at WDHA in 2018
It’s always a blast to hang with our New Jersey rock family and I am always excited to talk about New Jersey rock history, the inspiration behind the music, and the legacy that is NJ hard rock.
And Skid Row is a massive part of the Garden State’s musical history. With over 20 million albums sold, countless miles traveled on tour, major MTV success, and fans of multi-generations, the band has managed to navigate through lineup changes, band disputes, and changing musical climates.
When I think back to MTV in the late 80’s early 1990 there wasn’t an hour that didn’t feature a band from New Jersey. Bon Jovi, Skid Row, The Smithereens, Joe Lynn Turner…- Jersey was EVERYWHERE!
