With smuggled donkey body parts, and snakes hiding in strange places, today's Weird News is kind of a twisted episode of Wild Kingdom.
The only thing missing is an appearance by the late Marlin Perkins to complete the overall weirdness.
In fact, listening this today's installment tends to bring back the iconic "moose scene" from the movie Arthur.
Donkey Body Parts
Today in Weird News, law enforcement officials in Nigeria intercepted packages containing 7000 donkey phalluses which were being smuggled to Hong Kong.
The illicit trade of donkey parts has been a big problem that is being investigated by Nigerian officials, and this latest seizure of donkey phalluses was worth approximately $468,000.
Holy crap!
So let's add this to the list.
Smuggling of illegal drugs, well, that's considered normal these days. The smuggling of weapons to various countries, there is really nothing new there, and now we can add smuggling of donkey phalluses to the list.
If I were an interior decorator, I think that would go very nicely over the fireplace right next to the deer head.
I guess there really isn't anything they wouldn't smuggle these days, but if it pays the bills, I guess I could understand.
Snakes In Strange Places
And lastly in Weird News, an animal control officer was sent over to the Goodwill Thrift Store in Stafford, Virginia after a worker found a live snake inside a box of donated books.
It's unclear what type of snake it was, but the officer was able to safely remove it from the box and release it back into the wild.
It's believed that with the oppressive heat wave in the east, the snake was likely looking for a cool dark place to chill out.
It is good to know that Goodwill gladly accepts books about snakes as opposed to real snakes. I wonder if you had a chance to read A Den of Vipers while snuggled away in the box.
I find that story quite riveting.
And that's DHA's Weird News.
