Could Creed put out new music?  If they do, there's a good chance A New Creed Album Could Sound Old! And I'm pumped. Hear me out, as we dig into this.

Recently Mark Tremonti interviewed with Guitar Interactive Magazine where he said he thought 2009’s “Full Circle” strayed a bit from their original sound.  He noted that if Creed were to put out a new release he’d like to go back to basics and get closer to their original sound.

I for one think that would be so awesome.  And it’s kind of refreshing to hear.  So many artists want to widen their sound, and experiment, and not do the same thing twice.  But here’s one of the best modern guitarists we have said that he’d like to kind of go back to what the band previously put out.  And I think that’s exciting.

Sometimes when a band strays too far from what you thought you knew them it’s off-putting.  So, hearing some familiar sounds from Creed on a new album would be welcomed!

And think about it.  It’s Creed.  They’ve sold millions of records and while I don’t mean to box them into doing the same thing over and over, wouldn’t it be nice to know that if a new record was on the horizon, it would have that signature and familiar sound we all love?

They don’t need to really take too many chances or even change things up all that much.   They know how to write big, anthemic hits.  Songs with awesome, heavy guitars, and motivational, emotional lyrics.

And people love nostalgia too.  I’ll speak for myself, but I know that if a new Creed album came out soon and I put it on and it had that feel of their debut, I would be taken right back to when I first heard them and everything in my life at that time.

And that’s so cool.  Tremonti writes amazing riffs, so I’m sure whatever they come up with if and when they want to put out new material will be awesome.  But I for one would not be disappointed if it had the feel of the tune below!

Jersey’s Top 5 Rocking Rush Songs

As Geddy Lee celebrated a birthday yesterday I wanted to take a look at Jersey’s Top 5 Rocking Rush Songs.  I love asking listeners to pick their favorites from bands and yesterday was no different.  So how about we take a look at the results?

Each weekday at 4 pm I post a question of the day to the WDHA Facebook page. I ask listeners to pick their favorite bands or songs to answer the question.  Then, based on all the responses I put together a block of songs just in time for the ride home from work at 5 pm with First Call Last Call.  The responses are always a lot of fun to read and it’s always interesting to see the answers from the listeners' perspectives.

So, yesterday was the legend Geddy Lee’s 71st birthday and I wanted to know what songs from RUSH our Jersey family loves.  I got some great responses.  The songs were all over the map of the RUSH discography.  There were certainly answers I knew I would get like “Tom Sawyer” or “Red Barchetta”, but some were off the beaten path which is always fun.

RUSH went through a lot of different sounds.  Sometimes a little more progressive than others, they always rocked.  Of course, the 80s brought lots of synths, but it still sounded like RUSH…..at least to me.

They closed out the end of their catalog with some hard-rocking albums that showcased their unbelievable musicianship and intriguing lyrical content.  Whether you like listening to live cuts, deep cuts, or just the big standard hits from the studio recordings, there are RUSH songs to satisfy almost anyone!

I for one fell in love with RUSH because I’m a drummer and Neil Peart was one of the greatest to ever touch the instrument.  He is sorely missed, but the music lives on.

So here’s Jersey’s Top 5 Rocking Rush Songs!

RED SECTOR A

There sounds like panic as this song starts. It's ominous and brooding and they keys lend to the feel of the lyrics. It's a unique sounding song, that few other bands could pull off!

TIME STAND STILL

I always thought this song was beautiful.  Aimee Mann lending her vocals really takes this song in a different direction.  Contemplative, optimistic and just cool!

LIMELIGHT

This song holds a special place in my heart.  After taking a break from drums and not picking up sticks for a while.  I was listening to this piece and realized that Neil Peart's part sounds like a whole other voice in the song.  It's tremendous and it got me back into drumming.

SUBDIVISIONS

A great live song (as most of them are), this one from Signals is really cool.  Especially just to hear the "SUBDIVISIONS" title spoken.  It's almost like you can't help but say it along.

ANIMATE

It's kind of closer to the hard rock scene for RUSH.  they came out of the gate swinging on this album opener.  It's got some great lyrics and really gets the blood going!
