Jets and Giants – A Tale of 0-1 Teams
The Jets and Giants – and their respective 0-1 records – are the focus this week on the WDHA Two-Minute Drill.
Both teams took an “L” in their opening games of the 2024 regular season but as Jim Monaghan and Chris Swendeman discuss, one team is in better shape than the other.
Jets
Despite the lopsided 32-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football, Aaron Rodgers looked like…well…Aaron Rodgers, particularly in the drive that led to a touchdown.
He did look a little rusty after nearly a full year off due to injury, but there were signs that Jets fans can point to, giving them hope for a successful season.
The biggest problem was the defense that allowed the 49ers to score on eight consecutive possessions.
Giants
Like Aaron Rodgers, Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is coming back from an injury that forced him to miss a significant amount of time in 2023.
Unlike Rodgers, Jones’ performance didn’t give Giants fans anything to feel good about, and the 28-6 score against the Vikings doesn’t really tell the story of how bad the entire team played.
Baseball This Weekend
The Mets and Yankees have key series coming up with postseason implications for everyone involved.
The Mets will be in Philadelphia trying to secure their slim lead over the Atlanta Braves for the third National League Wild Card spot. The Phillies are likewise trying to hold on to their equally slim advantage over the Los Angeles Dodgers for best record in the National League.
The Yankees host the Red Sox who are clinging to very slim playoff hopes as an American League Wild Card team while the Yankees are looking to secure first place in the AL East over the Baltimore Orioles.
