October Rocks: 7 Bangin’ New Releases We Have Been Waiting For
October has arrived! And if you've listened to me, you have heard me coin the incredibly corny phrase "Rocktober" as a joke on the show in my "radio voice"- (The one that sounds like I'm puking!) HOWEVER, these 5 highly anticipated releases put the "R" and the Rock on front of the month for sure.
It's Terrie Carr, and October is always a cool month and not just the temperatures. Darker clothes, darker vibes, and heavy music always seem an appropriate soundtrack and this month we have some banner rock artists releasing new music that the fans have been waiting for. Me included!
It's October, so get ready for some amazing, long-awaited releases to be unleashed by some of your favorite WDHA artists. Each of these artists has appeared somewhere in the NJ area this summer - Makes Kennedy was at our WDHA Parking Lot Party!
CHECK IT OUT
And my recent video interview with Vince Neil and Nikki Sixx about the future of Motley Crue!
October also brings us live releases from Def Leppard, anniversary editions from Ratt and Green Day, and a singles collection from the kings- MOTORHEAD! October ROCKS Indeed!
New Music Feeds The Soul! And October Brings It!
WDHA listeners appreciate "New Music Discovery" on the station and you let us know, which is precisely the reason we keep the fresh tunes coming. Artists you love, new bands you have heard first on the station, for close to 50 years, we have been loud and proud and turning you on to new sounds and musical genres. That's what we do- Check out my list- which includes my favorite artists and a few surprises.
And don't forget to try our WDHA Parking Lot Party Light Lager From Diamond Spring Brewing- Perfect for sipping with friends and great tunes!
Rock On!
1. Myles Kennedy- The Art Of Letting Go - 10/11
I'm a Myles "super fan" (self proclaimed), and I'm so excited about his 3rd solo release - The Art Of Letting Go" . Songs, Guitar and Vocals. Pure perfection with Myles and his team of solo collaborators which include Tim Tournier and Zia Uddin.
Expect 10 songs from one of rock's most powerful artists
2. Motley Crue- Cancelled- EP - 10/4-
While it's only a 3 song EP, Motley is back with new tunes, a new record label and a new guitarist. (Oh and a classic cover tune!)
3. Jerry Cantrell - I Want Blood- 10/18
Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell is a master and his 4th solo record "I Want Blood" (I'm counting Degredation Trip 1&2 as one) is his favorite solo endeavor yet! (He says)
With guest appearances from Duff McKagan, Robert Trujillo and more, the first single "Vilified" is a perfect representation of Jerry as a songwriter and performer. Beautifully heavy.
4. The Offspring- Supercharged - 10/11
The Offspring are back with their 11th record - on October 11th, with 10 brand new power-punk-pop tunes that are described as "old and new sounding". Their first single "Make It All Right" has already topped the Billboard rock charts at number 1.
5. Jellyroll- Beautifully Broken - 10/11
Jason DeFord- or Jellyroll to all of us! will release his 10th studio album on October 11th and he has said the album is full of "songs with a purpose". Jellyroll is kind of the "IT" guy these days, playing big shows, getting lots of buzz, even opening the 50th season of Saturday Night Live.
Jellyroll's first single "Liar" is a smooth, catchy jam, that tells a powerful story. Love me some "Jelly"!
6. Devin Townsend- PowerNerd- 10/25
There is no way to properly describe Devin Townsend. The world has not caught up yet.
He began his career in the band "Strapping Young Lad" and his 20 plus album catalog highlights Devin's playing, vocals, songwriting, producing and unreal talent.
7. Doug (dUg) Pinnick- Thingamajigger- 10/25
More music from Kings X vocalist and bassist Doug Pinnick- I LOVE Doug and Kings X so I am pumped for this one.
The record is under wraps! So check out this Kings X classic- Can't wait!
