John 5 Says He Hasn’t Spoken to Rob Zombie Since He Joined Motley Crue
John 5 shared in a new interview that he hasn’t spoken to Rob Zombie since he joined Motley Crue.
The guitarist shared this news in an appearance on The Jasta Show. John 5 says he and Zombie aren’t on “bad terms” and noted, “I don’t think there’s any bad blood or anything.” He said Zombie wished him well with his new gig and was supportive of his decision. However, after working together for 17 years, ” … We just haven’t talked.”
John 5 had similar comments back in May 2023. At that time, he said Zombie “wasn’t psyched, but he understood.” John 5 added, “I think that was amazing of him. He was just, like, ‘Go get ’em.’ He was fine about it.”
It seems as though the thing that matters most to Zombie is that his band members come to him about new opportunities. That seems to be what happened when drummer Tommy Clutefos left his band to join Ozzy Osbourne’s band. In a 2014 interview with Metal Hammer, Zombie said, “If he’d come to me and said he wanted to leave, I’d have said that was fine and wished him all the best. He didn’t. As far as I’m concerned, anyone can leave this band at any time, with my blessing. All I ask is that they’re just honest and tell me up-front.”
Latest on Motley Crue
Motley Crue recently wrapped their “Hollywood Takeover,” which included shows at the Troubadour, The Roxy, and the Whisky a Go Go. The series of shows were part of the promotion of their new EP, Cancelled.
The EP features three songs: The title track, the previously released “Dogs of War” and a cover of the Beastie Boys’ “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!).'”
The Crue said in a joint statement, “It was really great getting in the studio and working on some tracks together. What started out as a couple demo ideas turned into this EP produced by Bob Rock. We look forward to getting back into the studio again soon and writing more new music, as well.”
The title track “Cancelled” was first talk about by Tommy Lee back in October 2023. The Crue drummer said in an appearance on Club Random with Bill Maher, “We just recorded a song called ‘Cancelled’ because we were just inspired by the rest of the world and things and places, like anybody else.”
Lee said the band was inspired to write the song after coming across an article questioning how the band was never “cancelled.” Lee did admit to Maher, “We snuck in under the whatever threshold, wherever that was, where we got away with f—ing murder.”
Lee did jokingly say that since the Crue was never canceled, it makes him want to try harder to get canceled. Or at least we think he was joking. Perhaps we’ll find out eventually if he was!
