It’s Students Change Hunger Week- Amy Hernandez High School Student was a lot of fun and very interesting! I asked her about how her school is involved with the CFBNJ and how they handle student change Hunger.

We have staggering statistics here in New Jersey when it comes to hunger.  Especially for a state that some would consider somewhat affluent. Nearly 1 million people in the state are food insecure which is about 1 in 9.  That includes over 260,000 children or 1 in 8.  It’s so sad to hear about those neighbors in need and when we do realize the gravity of the situation, many of us want to do something, which is why it’s so important that Amy came on my show to talk about ways to be involved, specifically for the youth out there to get involved in Students Change Hunger.

Amy explained how her school did so well last year raising so much for the CFBNJ.  And she said the “friendly competition” is a nice added incentive.  Her school encourages all grades to take part and they decorate their collection boxes in a fun way and show support for CFBNJ.

It was great to speak to a young lady who is living out the program and doing her best to raise food and awareness about food insecurity.  It’s so important to get the word out there because sometimes we’re focused on other things and not necessarily thinking about how many people here in our great state are food insecure.

Amy was a pleasure to talk to and is a model high school student that I’m hoping will have many other students want to follow in her footsteps.

Check out my discussion with Amy below and if you want to be involved in some way, be sure to head to the CFBNJ website.

VIDEO: The Warning Rocks WDHA’s Parking Lot Party

The Warning ROCKED The WDHA Parking Lot Party Series!

The Warning is such an amazing band! And we were so fortunate to have them as part of our 2024 WDHA Parking Lot Party Series!

It's Terrie Carr and I first became a fan 10 years ago, of these three AMAZING sisters from Mexico

Daniella Villarreal (Dani) Vocals, Guitar

Alejandra Villarreal – (Ale) Bass, Piano, Vocals

Paulina Villarreal- (Pau) Drums, Vocals

The Warning has 4 records, 2 EPs, and mega tours later supporting Muse, Foo Fighters, headlining tours of their own, and a fanbase that is more loyal than your own ride or die, The Warning is a band that I am comfortable with say “Is the future of rock and roll” for sure.

Their latest release "Keep Me Fed" is extraordinary - Heavy, smooth, and sophisticated, it's one of the best rock records of 2024- (totally in my top 5)

Their fan base is massive and SO LOYAL- And the amount of PLP entries showed us that!

They treated us to 4 songs from "Keep Me Fed" and blew our WDHA listeners away.
