Zakk Wylde – 5 Favorite WDHA Moments

Zakk Wylde celebrates a Birthday on January 14th- Happy Heavy Birthday! We have so many fond WDHA memories of our New Jersey brother. It's Terrie Carr and I adore "The Metal Teddy Bear" as I call Zakk. He is such a force to be reckoned with on guitar, on vocals, on stage, and as a songwriter.

From Zakk's early club days playing in the local band "Zyris" to his "Ozzy Osbourne" band triumphant debut, "Pride and Glory", "Black Label Society", "Zakk Sabbath"..... Zakk is one of the most amazing guitar gods on the planet.

Check Out Zakk With Me On Reconnect With Rockers- I Love Him!

WDHA Memories Date Back FAR!

Zakk Wylde has always been a good buddy of ours. Playing shows for us, stopping by our studios, granting interviews anytime, anywhere. A true Jersey Boy born in Bayonne, growing up in Jackson, working at Silverton Music, and being a staple on the Jersey club circuit in local bands like Zyris (I saw them SO MANY times!) When he auditioned for Ozzy's band in 1987 it was huge news and when he got in us Jersey Metal Club kids were floored. WOW! One of our own with The Prince Of Darkness- How can this be?! It was awesome.

Zakk's Catalog is HUGE!

Zakk Wylde has played on nine "Ozzy Osbourne" albums, one "Pride and Glory" " released two solo albums, four "Zakk Sabbath" and sixteen "Black Label Society" records. WOWZA!

He has also joined "Pantera" as their guitar player paying tribute to his best bud Dimebag Darryl Abbott by respecting the band's legacy and preserving their catalog on tour. No one BUT Zakk could have pulled that off. NO ONE.

Another thing I love about Zakk? He LOVES dogs! Lol

1. Zakk and Pride and Glory Headline WDHA's "Clam And Jam"

Zakk

Zakk Wylde rocking at WDHA's Clam and Jam show in the early 1990's.

Clams, Brews and Music- That's what WDHA Clam And Jam's were all about! When the Pride and Glory debut came out in 1991, Zakk and the band were all over WDHA and played a bunch of station shows including C&J at the Sheraton Hotel in Mt. Arlington (In the parking lot!)
What a blast!

2. Pre-Bearded Baby Zakk Hanging On My Show

Zakk

Zakk Wylde WAAAAY back with TC

Zakk without his mega beard?! Yup! Our baby faced brother stopped by the show many times pre-beard to hang and play.

3. Zakk, TC & Matt In The Studio During A Marathon DHA Hang

Zakk

Bring On the Zakk Attack! Zakk performed in 2003 for WDHA listeners and stayed all day hanging, signing, taking photos and playing videos for the fans!

I'll never forget the day Zakk stopped by for a listener experience in 2003 and well, let's just say, the party was ON!

4. Having A Smoothie On The Zakk Tourbus! (and my fave beard shot)

Zakk Wylde

Zakk is always so polite and hospitable (and hilarious) whenever I conduct an interview with him.

This interview was at a WDHA presents show at Starland Ballroom and Zakk offered to make us smoothies! What a guy!

5. Zakk Hanging In The WDHA Conference Room (With Food!)

When Zakk hung in our conference room for hours and hours- It was AWESOME!
