Space-Themed Indoor Playground Opens in Hillsborough To Fill Community Gap

A cutting-edge play center, Space Play Academy, has launched in Hillsborough, New Jersey. The site caters to children up to age 11, with its star-studded design and out-of-this-world features.

Owner Luis Pazmino started this venture when Somerset County families voiced their needs. "The message was loud and clear: an indoor playground," said Pazmino, according to Mommy Poppins.

The center is more than just a playground though, as they are launching encrichment classes for toddlers and first and second graders. There will also be parent networking programs and more, according to Space Play.

At its heart stands an innovative ball system. Air tubes whisk colorful spheres up through clear pipes to a hovering UFO. Staff use specialized equipment to sanitize the balls. Younger visitors enjoy a separate, smaller area.

The adventure zone features winding slides, suspended swings, and a unique tubing course with raft rides. High ceilings welcome adults to join the fun, while see-through barriers let them watch their young ones.

Three make-believe stations spark imagination. Current options let kids run food service, fight fires, or sell fashion items. These spots change regularly to keep returning visitors excited.

The toddler section offers safe spaces with cushioned pits, crawl spaces, a padded merry-go-round, and trike paths. Their Little Moons program, designed for ages 18 months to 3 years, mixes tales, tunes, art, and treats.

After-school visitors can finish schoolwork before diving into activities. Special sessions focus on music, art, stories, and parent-child fitness.

The facility welcomes guests from Wednesday to Sunday. Kids must wear grip socks, which are sold at check-in. While snacks and drinks are available, there's no full-service food court.

Party packages begin at $500, covering 10 kids and 10 adults, with food and refreshments. Online booking and waiver completion are suggested, as weekend celebrations often fill up fast.
