Van Saun Park Marks 10th Anniversary of Winter Wonderland With Holiday Lantern Show

Van Saun Park in Bergen County launched its 10th annual Winter Wonderland last Friday. Ice skating returned. Rides spun. Vendors lined the paths, and a new attraction called Let it GLOW! A Holiday Lantern Spectacular lit up the night sky for the first time.

The celebration stretches through early January, with activities scheduled most Fridays through Sundays and daily during the final week of December.

Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco joined Board of Commissioners members to cut the ribbon at 4 p.m. Friday, though gates had swung open at noon. The parks division dubbed the event "North Jersey's premier destination for holiday family fun."

This year brings ticketed ice skating, bumper cars, a carousel, a train, concerts, and a beer garden. Tree lighting happens in December. So does menorah lighting.

All-access tickets run $20 for most visitors and $10 for seniors, veterans, and active military, plus an online service fee. General admission costs $10, with seniors, veterans, and military paying $5, plus the online fee. Kids age 3 and under enter at no charge.

Extra fees hit your wallet for skate rental, bumper cars, train rides, and carousel spins. Gates open Fridays from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The ice rink runs Monday and Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. for now, though hours shift during holiday weekends.
