Freakin Rican Opening Teaneck Location, Second for Queens Restaurant
This Puerto Rican eatery takes over where Bischoff’s used to be. It’s the first time the Queens-based restaurant has expanded outside its original home.

The Freakin Rican will launch its second spot in Teaneck on Wednesday. Dinner service runs from 4-9 p.m. at 468 Cedar Lane.
This Puerto Rican eatery takes over where Bischoff's used to be. It's the first time the Queens-based restaurant has expanded outside its original home.
Executive Chef Derick Lopez started this venture back in 2014. His beginnings? New York City street fairs, where he sold plates to hungry crowds. Lopez mixed his kitchen know-how with sharp business sense, building what began as a simple stand into a full restaurant, a catering company, a YouTube channel, and even a line of cooking products that customers can buy.
Pernil sits at the heart of the menu. Mofongo, pastelón, and alcapurrias fill out the savory choices, while sweets finish each meal.
Lopez grew his brand from Astoria, where he first set down roots. That original spot has been the center of operations for over ten years now.
Teaneck's new site starts small. Hours will expand once the team settles in. Lopez announced the opening date through posts on social media.
The food here comes straight from Puerto Rican cooking traditions passed down through generations. Each plate reflects time-tested recipes and methods that define the island's kitchens.
This move takes the concept from New York into New Jersey. Teaneck customers can order the same dishes served in Queens.
Cedar Lane sees plenty of foot traffic, making it a smart pick. The former Bischoff's building gives the restaurant a proven space with built-in visibility.
From street vendor to owner of two restaurants — Lopez has come a long way. His YouTube channel teaches viewers how to cook, while his product line lets fans recreate his recipes at home, extending what started as just a place to eat into something bigger.
