Montclair Township and Essex County rolled out warning systems that ping residents when snow emergencies hit, roads close, or public safety threats arise. Everbridge, CodeRED, and Nixle push out time-sensitive details during winter blasts and other crises.

Essex County's Office of Emergency Management acts as command central. It broadcasts warnings across the area. Montclair Township? They've got their own Office of Emergency Management with a separate notification service.

People who might need assistance when disasters strike can register through Register Ready. This state-run registry links vulnerable individuals with help during storms and hazardous conditions.

Towns scattered across Essex County built their own warning platforms. Newark operates a notification center. South Orange Village, Maplewood Township, Livingston Township, West Orange, North Caldwell, and Roseland each run their own system.

The New Jersey Office of Emergency Management coordinates statewide responses through ReadyNJ. This agency maintains a weather, traffic, and crisis information hub with instructions on tapping into various warning channels.

NJ 211 maintains a Code Blue and warming center directory that refreshes when counties trigger cold weather plans. You'll find shelter addresses, operating hours, and transit instructions for unhoused people facing frigid temperatures.

PSE&G supplies electricity and gas to the area. When storms knock out power, their outage map and reporting system tracks failures.

Road and traffic data flows through 511NJ, operated by the New Jersey Department of Transportation. The NJ Turnpike Authority broadcasts travel warnings for the Turnpike and Garden State Parkway.

NJ Transit posts service updates for buses, light rail, and trains. Riders who subscribe to My Transit Alerts receive notifications about delays and cancelled runs.

Montclair enforces snow removal rules. Property owners must scrape sidewalks within set deadlines, or the township will issue fines.
