The Mikes of WDHA’s Metal with the Mikes are giving you the chance to win a pair of tickets to see The Ghost Inside at the Starland Ballroom on Thursday, May 2nd!
El Segundo, California’s The Ghost Inside was formed 2004 under the name A Dying Dream and released their first EP Now or Never under the name, first on Frontline in 2004 then again in 2005 with extra content on Mediaskare Records before changing their name and releasing their debut album Fury and the Fallen Ones in 2008. Two years later, the band released Returners via Mediaskare, followed by extensive touring including co-headlining the Alternative Press Tour with Miss May I in 2012.
Also in 2012, The Ghost Inside found their first majorly successful album in Get What You Give, their first to be released on Epitaph Records, which was produced by A Day To Remember’s Jeremy McKinnon and peaked at 88 on the Billboard 200, 37 on the US Top Rock Albums, 19 on the US Independent Albums, and 8 on the US Top Hard Rock Albums charts. This album produced some of the band’s most popular songs, including Engine 45 which became the band’s final song at most of their performances until 2021. Following this album’s release, they toured the world before releasing Dear Youth in 2014 to even more success on the charts including peaking at 63 on the Billboard 200, and in the top 15 in the Independent, Top Hard Rock, and Top Rock Albums charts.
While touring in the Fall of 2015, The Ghost Inside’s tour bus collided head on with a tractor trailer, leading to the deaths of both drivers, and hospitalization of five on the band’s bus, including vocalist Jonathan Vigil, guitarist Zach Johnson, and drummer Andrew Tkaczyk. The accident led to years of recovery and Tkaczyk losing one of his legs after a ten-day coma. It wasn’t until the Spring of 2018 that the band confirmed they weren’t done, saying, “yes there is a future for TGI.” on their social media. In February 2019, the band announced they would return for an outdoor show at The Shrine in LA which sold out in minutes. At the show, Vigil announced on stage that they would be releasing new music, and The Ghost Inside followed through on that promise, releasing the emotional “Aftermath” in 2020 followed by their self-titled album that June to high praise and their best charting to-date aside from on the Billboard 200. At the band’s third show back in 2021 in Massachusetts, the band premiered songs from the self-titled album and told the crowd they weren’t sure if a full-blown tour would be plausible yet, but they are far from done.
Since 2021, the band has slowly played more and more shows each year, including headlining festivals in Europe, doing a portion of a tour with A Day To Remember, and their first full tour last summer with Underoath. The band has released three singles in “Earn It”, “Death Grip”, and most recently “Wash It Away” which came with the announcement of The Ghost Inside’s newest album Searching For Solace set to release in April 2024. Shortly following the announcement of the album came the announcement of the Wash It Away Tour with Paleface Swiss, Bleed From Within, and Great American Ghost.
