WDHA is giving you the chance to win a pair of tickets to see Jack's Mannequin at the Stone Pony Summer Stage on Thursday, June 26th!
Formed in 2004, Orange County’s Jack’s Mannequin started off as Something Corporate’s Andrew McMahon writing for himself with no intention of the songs seeing the light of day. As he continued to write while Something Corporate was taking a break, he eventually began to see more potential in the tracks, leading to production starting on the soon-to-be album and a record deal with Maverick Records.
Choosing the name Jack’s Mannequin, McMahon would release their debut album Everything in Transit in 2005. Despite being thematically unlike Andrew’s writing with Something Corporate, the music world greatly embraced the album, leading to Everything in Transit being certified gold by the RIAA in 2021 and hitting the 37 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. Tracks from the album even ended up being used by the hit TV series One Tree Hill.
The second album, The Glass Passenger was released in 2008 to similar success, debuting at number 8 on the Billboard 200 chart. This was also the first album that had more than just Andrew as an official member, making Jack’s Mannequin from a solo project with studio help to a full-fledged band. Their third album People and Things came out in 2011, and would end up being their final release before the band playing a final show in September of 2012.
The end of Jack’s Mannequin led to Andrew McMahon’s new solo project Andrew McMahon and In The Wilderness. Despite the band disbanding, Jack’s Mannequin songs would still appear during McMahon’s sets. In 2015, the band would reunite for a brief, 10 stop tour for the 10th anniversary of Everything in Transit.
Jack's Mannequin once again reunited in 2024, although at first only in spirit having been announced they were playing at the since-cancelled Ocean’s Calling Second Wave festival. Later that year they announced they will be playing the When We Were Young festival in 2025, and at the start of 2025 announced their own 20th anniversary MFEO Tour.
