10cc is a British rock band formed in Stockport, England, in 1972. Known for their clever lyrics, studio innovation, and genre-blending sound, 10cc quickly rose to prominence in the 1970s with a string of hits that showcased their artistic range and satirical edge. The classic lineup featured Graham Gouldman, Eric Stewart, Kevin Godley, and Lol Creme—each a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter—who brought distinct creative strengths to the band.

Their breakthrough single, “Donna,” released in 1972, was a quirky doo-wop parody that signaled their unconventional approach. They followed with hits like “Rubber Bullets,” “The Wall Street Shuffle,” and the international smash “I’m Not in Love,” which featured lush, multi-tracked vocals and became a defining soft rock anthem of the decade. Another major hit, “Dreadlock Holiday,” topped UK charts in 1978.

Godley and Creme departed in 1976 to pursue video and musical experimentation, while Gouldman and Stewart continued under the 10cc name, delivering more polished pop-rock productions. Though the band saw several lineup changes and periods of inactivity, their influence endured.

10cc remains celebrated for their wit, innovation, and refusal to be pigeonholed, earning a lasting place in rock history as one of the most inventive bands of their era.
