Check out Chicago at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center on Friday, July 25th!

Formed in, and named after, Chicago, Illinois in 1967, Chicago has become one of the most popular classic rock bands of all time. Describing themselves as “rock and roll with horns”, a very fitting description, the band has undergone several lineup changes, but the three members of keyboard player Robert Lamm, trumpet player Lee Loughnane, and trombone player James Pankow have stayed since its inception in 1967. With over 100 million records sold throughout their historic career, the band has been regarded as one of the top artists of all time. With 23 gold 18 platinum, and eight multi-platinum albums, Chicago is one of the most successful bands in American history. They topped the Billboard 200 five consecutive times with Chicago V (1972) to Chicago IX (1976), and in 1974 had all seven albums from their entire catalogue landing somewhere on the Billboard 200 chart. Their list of accolades spills well beyond album performance, as they were the first rock act to sell out a full week at Carnegie Hall, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, had members elected to the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Chicago has a mountain of hits spanning their near 60-year career. Hits include “Saturday in the Park”, “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?”, “I’m A Man”, “If You Leave Me Now”, and their biggest hit “25 Or 6 To 4”. The band’s live performances, usually including most if not all of these hits, are just as important to the legacy of the band with constant summer tours of outdoor amphitheaters, and just as frequent large indoor theater tours. Fans who have followed the band since their beginning continue to praise their performances, with many making attending their yearly appearances a family tradition.
