Les Claypool is an American artist born in 1963 in California. Since he joined the music industry as a young adult, Claypool has been involved in many different musical groups and projects in his lifetime. He is arguably one of the best bassists in the industry. Claypool is best known for being the bassist for the band Primus, but he has recently been working on some projects independently of the band, such as touring with his current group, the Fearless Flying Frog Brigade. Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade is a group formed in 2000 to perform at the Mountain Aire Festival in California. The band created its name based on one of the events that the venue in California hosts, the Calaveras County Frog Jump.
Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade was active between 2000 and 2004. In that time span, the band first released two live recordings. Then, they went on to release one studio album called Purple Onion in 2002. After a tour in the summer of 2003, the band never went on any more tours or released new music until this year after Claypool brought the band back together. After 18 years, Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade returned with their Summer of Green Tour 2023. Les Claypool is the only original returning member. Other current members include Harry Waters on keyboard, Paulo Baldi on drums, Mike Dillon on percussion, Skerick on saxophone, and Sean Lennon on guitar. Sean Lennon happens to be the son of the legendary Beatles member, John Lennon. Aside from the Frog Brigade, Les Claypool and Sean Lennon have collaborated in other ways too, such as their group, the Claypool Lennon Delirium.
