One of rock’s most infamous and notorious artists Marilyn Manson formed his group, originally named Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids, in 1989. The group thrives off the idea that no press is bad press, engaging in shocking behavior on and offstage and writing songs with anti-religious, sexual, and violent lyrics. This is shown right out of the gate, with Manson and the rest of his earlier band members taking their stage name from the first name female sex symbols and the last name of male serial killers. Despite the negativity around their behaviors and lyrics, the group has enjoyed extreme success. With three platinum and three gold albums and four Grammy nominations, Marilyn Manson is often regarded one of the biggest acts in rock. With twelve total studio albums, Manson has seen ten of their releases start in the top 10, including the internation chart topping The Golden Age of Grotesque (2003). His controversial career has spawned massive hit singles such as “The Beautiful People”, “The Dope Show”, and “The Fight Song”, and led to many worldwide headlining tours. Most recently, Manson completed a summer 2024 tour supporting Five Finger Death Punch alongside Slaughter to Prevail. Later in the year, he released his most recent album One Assassination Under God – Chapter 1, which performed extremely well on the charts, topping the German Alternative Albums chart and reaching the top ten on other charts around the world.
