Check out Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds at the Barclays Center on Thursday, April 17th!

Australian rock group Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds formed in Melbourne in 1983. They are considered one of the biggest post-punk and alt rock bands of all time. The group initially started following the breakup of The Birthday Party as the backing band for Cave’s solo project before morphing into the full-fledged Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. The debut album, From Her to Eternity was released in 1984 and was well received by critics, even topping the UK Independent Albums chart. The next year, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds released their second album The Firstborn Is Dead which was quickly followed by Kicking Against the Pricks in 1986, both of which were extremely well received. The band continued to pump out successful releases with their second release of 1986 Your Funeral… My Trial and 1988’s Tender Prey, ending the 80’s on a high note. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ success continued into the 90’s, with their first three albums of the decade, The Good Son (1990), Henry’s Dream (1992), and Let Love In (1994), the later of which spawned two tracks that took on new life, with “Red Right Hand” being featured in Scream films and being used as the theme song for Peaky Blinders, and Metallica releasing a cover of “Loverman” on their Garage Inc. album in 1998. In 1996, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds released Murder Ballads, their best-selling album to date. The album, featuring a combination of traditional and new tracks that detail crimes of passion, topped charts around the world and was given perfect scores by several critics. The follow-up, 1997’s The Boatman’s Call, while not becoming a smash hit like its predecessor, was still extremely well received and was followed by a brief hiatus. The band reconvened and released the album No More Shall We Part in 2001, kicking of their third decade with yet another success. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds released their twelfth album Nocturama in 2003, the group’s first album to get mixed reviews, before bouncing back with the critically acclaimed Abbattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus double album the following year. The last album of the 2000’s was Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! in 2008, another critical success for the band to end the decade. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds continued their pattern of extremely successful releases, with all three albums released in the 2010’s, Push the Sky Away (2013), Skeleton Tree (2016), and Ghosteen (2019) all enjoying extreme success. At the end of 2024, they released yet another chart-topping album in Wild God, a true commercial success for the band, kicking off their 5th decade as a band with a bang.
