The Washington Twp. Public Library, 37 E. Springtown Rd., Long Valley, NJ will have a Pastel Painting Demonstration on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. This pastel painting demonstration by Doris Schwint, free flowing style artist, will consist of developing a Pastel Painting, starting with an outline drawing and then explaining composition, color theory, contrast, textures and various details. Pastel materials such as different types of paper, types of pastels and blending tools will be discussed. An question and discussion period is included. Doris enjoys painting in a free flowing style in her water colors and uses glowing pastels in landscapes, florals, seascapes and figures. Her favorite subjects are local landscapes, Maine seascapes, and gardens. Doris began her art career studying at Parson’s School of Design, NYC. She worked as an illustrator in New York and New Jersey; has exhibited widely and won many awards. also specializes in house portraits and animal portraits, and offers classes in her studio. She is a member of the Morris County Art Association, Art in Roxbury Association, Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council, NJ Watercolor Society, and is the chair of the Art Department of the Sparta Women’s Club This program counts toward Adult Summer Reading Program prizes.
