Check out Periphery at the Palladium Times Square on Saturday, May 18th!

Periphery was formed in Washington, D.C. in 2005 by guitarist Misha Mansoor, who slowly sculpted the band’s lineup and sound for the first few years of the band. In 2010, the band released their debut self-titled album which did considerably well for a debut, landing at number 128 on the Billboard 200 and at number 2 on the Billboard Heatseekers charts. This release was quickly followed by their Icarus EP.

Between Misha’s reputation gained via online forums, doing his own audio production, as well as his personal project Bulb, as well as the success of Periphery, the band was able to tour around the world before the end of 2011, including dates in the US, Canada, Australia, Europe, and the UK. In 2012 Periphery released Periphery II: This Time It’s Personal which contained both reworkings of some of Misha’s Bulb demos, as well as tracks written by the whole band.

In 2014 Periphery released the Clear EP, which had the unique approach of each member “directing” a song, all of which were linked together by the opening track “Overture.” The following year, the band released the double album containing Juggernaut: Alpha and Juggernaut: Omega. In 2016 the band released the album Periphery III: Select Difficulty which contains one of their biggest tracks to date in “Marigold” as well as “The Price Is Wrong” which would be nominated for the Best Metal Performance Grammy.

In 2019 the band released Periphery IV: Hail Stan, the first record on their independent 3DOT Recordings label, which contained the single “Blood Eagle” which is arguably one of their heaviest tracks to date and sounds akin to one of Misha’s original inspirations for the band, Meshuggah. In 2023, the band released their most recent album Periphery V: Djent Is Not A Genre to considerable success, and have recently announced a US tour with support from Eidola and the band’s drummer Jake Bowen doing a special solo performance.
