On June 12, 2005, Pink Floyd announced to the world that they would be performing at Live 8, the benefit concert that honored both the 20th anniversary of Live Aid and the then-upcoming G8 summit that was set to take place in Scotland.
The show, which aimed to raise awareness of worldwide poverty, would mark the first time Pink Floyd would perform together with Roger Waters since the band’s tour in support of The Wall.
In light of Richard Wright’s death in 2008 from cancer, this performance is incredibly special to Pink Floyd fans the world over.
