Aerosmith is hands down one of the greatest Rock bands of all time. Their early records, beginning with the debut, have some raw, powerful, energy and are some of the best rock records.

I recently posed the question to our listeners whether they would lean more towards the early Aerosmith catalog or if they would choose the “poppier” sound they began to lean towards with the album Permanent Vacation.

The response was overwhelming – DHA listeners love the classic sound!

And while I have to agree that it is amazing, I don’t want anyone to forget that the latter half of their discography has some monstrous and still rockin' tunes!

Below are some examples of some great Aerosmith songs from later in their career.

WHAT IT TAKES from Pump

We all know that heartache Tyler is singing about in this song.  It’s such an emotional power ballad.  And really showcases that the band could change up styles on a record that still has some straightforward rockers!

LIVIN’ ON THE EDGE from Get A Grip

A mid-tempo rocker.  This one gets you chanting along and we all wait for those four single hits on the bass drum before the last chorus!!  It’s also got a killer video. Well, Aerosmith has many of those in general.

HOLE IN MY SOUL from Nine Lives

The title says it all.  Love can make you feel that way and this tune definitely conveys that emotion.

JUST PUSH PLAY from Just Push Play

Things sound distorted, there’s a turntable and a censored F-word for most of the song.  But for some reason, it’s just fun and rockin'. Definitely shows the evolution of one of America’s greatest Rock Bands!
