This Friday December 6, Homeless Solutions here in Cedar Knolls is holding its 5th Annual A Night in the Cold, where participants pledge to sleep outside for the night to raise funds and awareness for the homeless and at risk in our community.

Stephanie Cicale, the Chief Development Officer for Homeless Solutions joins Jim Monaghan this morning on Jersey Magazine to talk about the organization and how it serves our community.

This year’s event will be on Friday December 6th, with people sleeping outside of the Homeless Solutions offices in Cedar Knolls again.

There will also be a gathering there to kick off the evening, where participants and supporters including local dignitaries and sponsors, formerly homeless guests of Homeless Solutions and staff can come together in constructive conversation. Certain parts of the evening will be livestreamed to the participants sleeping in their respective locations.

Funds raised from this event will support Homeless Solutions’ efforts to provide shelter, services, and stability to those without accommodations especially in the cold winter season. Last year we raised over $230,000 with 272 participants! This year’s goal is to raise $260,000.

This event has continued to grow each year as the needs of the unsheltered community in Morris County continue to rise. As of November 1, there were 1,572 unduplicated homeless and housing insecure households seeking services in Morris County – an increase from 1318 households in November 2023.

  • WhyHunger's 2024 Hungerthon

WhyHunger’s Hungerthon is an annual educational and fundraising campaign to tackle the root causes of hunger in America and ensure everyone’s right to nutritious food.

    Diesel Is So Handsome!

Diesel and Alex in the WDHA Studio

Diesel (the rockstar) is a young Husky mix, that came from an overcrowded shelter to RBARI, to find a new family to love him! Diesel is a year old, VERY friendly, super smart, aims to please, is loyal, and energetic! In typical Husky fashion, he loves to play, figure things out, and bond with his humans. He’s a great dog. Large but not too large.

Young, but not too young- although a year is still considered a puppy, so training and patience are always key with young dogs, however, Diesel is a very quick learner. He even loved taking a crack at the mic in the WDHA studio! And of course, hanging with our staff! He loves meeting everyone at WDHA and would even like a doggie friend to play with.

    How To Adopt Diesel!

Reach out to our friends at RBARI – they are at 2 Shelter Lane in Oakland New Jersey, 07436
