It’s the fourth of May. So, may I be one of many who say to you today…..”May The Fourth Be With You!”

What a phenomenon.  Star Wars.  Debuting in 1977, it changed the landscape for sci-fi and fantasy, and action all rolled into one.

Now, I feel like I need to say this. I don’t personally obsess over these movies, though I can see how and why someone could.  I do think they are some of the best films ever. But, I couldn’t name you every planet the crew of the Millennium Falcon lands on.

That said, I wanted to compile a list of the top Star Wars films…….according to me.  Feel free to let me know where I’m wrong.

  •  Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

This to me is a Masterpiece.  Dark, dramatic, lots of action.  And we get to hear that famous line uttered by Vader.  No spoilers.  Just watch it if for some reason you haven’t yet!

  • Star Wars: A New Hope (1977)

The original will always hold a soft spot in my heart.  Setting up the story and introducing the characters we’ve grown to love.  There’s the awesome battle scene at the end, as the rebels blow up the Death Star.  It’s such an iconic film.  Plus, to think this came out in ’77 with less than half the technology there is today, and yet it still somehow holds up.  Tremendous!

  • Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

Some may grumble that this made number 3 for me.  But to me, it was an awesome return to some of the characters we know and love, as well as a really cool introduction to Rey, Finn, Poe, and Kylo Ren.  I feel that it sets up the last trilogy really well. And it’s fun for kids of all ages!
