I’m still digesting some new releases that came out last week.  So, I thought today we can go back and discuss another overlooked or forgotten gem.  This time, it’s Stereomud’s 2003 album “Every Given Moment.”

This album is a real banger.  Not the heaviest by any means, but solid songwriting, emotional and heartfelt lyrics, and great, loud in-your-face guitars!  It’s got heavy, it’s got straightforward rock…..it has it all.

If you’re not familiar with Stereomud, you’re definitely not alone.  They only had 2 studio releases and never garnered the attention they deserved.  The members themselves are some really talented musicians who have ties with Seether, Life of Agony, Dark New Day, and more.

Their first album, “Perfect Self” was an amazing debut, but this sophomore release, “Every Given Moment” ups the ante.  Let’s take a look at some standout tracks!

  • Stereomud - "Show Me"

The opening track is great. It starts up with just a guitar riff before the whole band kicks in together. Erik Rogers’s vocals really shine on this one!

  • Stereomud - "Breathing"

One great thing about this band and album is that the songs are tight and get straight to the point. There’s not a lot of unnecessary fluff. Each song comes in, slaps you in the face and it’s done. This is a great example. A short verse, great pre-chorus, and a sing-along-able hook!

  • Stereomud - "Yesterday"

This is my favorite track on the album. A simple yet heavy guitar riff. And the lyrics convey a message about not looking back and focusing too much on the past. Instead, learn from what you went through and move on. Such a powerful chorus!
