This is a great time of year.  Not just because it’s getting sunnier and warmer. And not only because there are some really cool concerts coming to the area. But also because there are some really good album releases to look forward to!

Here’s a list of five albums you’ll want to check out when they are released. There’s heavy, there’s melodic and experimental….and there’s just plain rockin’!!

In order of release date:

  • AVENGED SEVENFOLD: Life Is But A Dream…   JUNE 2nd

These guys have touted that this album is even more experimental than their previous album “The Stage” and they are not the ones to give you the same thing with every release. If you’re an A7X fan, this is one you’re probably going to want to sit down and dissect upon its release!

  • FOO FIGHTERS: But Here We Are  JUNE 2nd

It’s the first release since Taylor Hawkins passed. No word on who’s drumming was recorded or who they’re going out on tour with.  But I don’t know if it matters.  There are so many Foo fans that are clamoring for new music and ready to rock with them again, listening to this album might just be a cathartic experience for dealing with loss.

  • EXTREME: Six JUNE 9th

The first taste we got from their upcoming release was not for the faint of heart.  Gary Cherone’s voice sounds incredible and Nuno Bettencourt sounds like he’s on a mission to show people that he deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as every other guitar legend we know and love.  I think this album has the makings for a return to form from the boys!

  • GRETA VAN FLEET: Starcatcher JULY 21st

Zeppelin comparisons aside. These boys are solid. And no how to write a tune. Their latest single “Meeting The Master” is a trippy, wild, epic journey that’s highlighted by some solid vocals and great guitar playing. I think this is just going to be one small facet of the album though. I’m sure they have some rockers up their sleeves! And if not, we’ll just sit back and enjoy an adult beverage as we pop this album on…..and let our minds go wild.

  • MAMMOTH WVH: MAMMOTH II JUNE 4th

Wolfgang Van Halen is a prodigy. A Genius. A Master of multiple instruments, his vocal chords included.  For this release, he comes out of the gate with a straight-up banger!!  It’s on fire from the song’s start, all the way to that epic guitar break. If it’s any indication of what to expect from this sophomore release…..I think we’re getting something pretty impressive!
