Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross Win Another Golden Globe for Their Score Work

Nine Inch Nails duo Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross won another Golden Globe last night (Jan. 5) for Best Original Score for their work on the film Challengers.

This was the third Golden Globe win overall for Reznor and Ross in the Best Original Score category. Their previous wins came for their work in The Social Network and Soul.

Ross accepted the award on behalf of himself and Reznor, who he referred to in his speech as "my best friend, my musical partner." Ross noted of the score in Challengers, "The music never felt like a safe choice, but it always felt like the right one. I’d like to thank the maestro, the visionary director, our friend Luca Guadagnino.… To be honest, we always thought we’d get the call ‘Can you just turn it down a little?’ But it never came, and here we are."

Reznor and Ross were also nominated for Best Original Song for "Compress / Repress," but they ended up losing to the song "El Mal" from Emilia Pérez.

With this win, it's safe to assume Reznor and Ross will be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Score. Currently, Challengers is on a shortlist for the honor along with 19 other films. Nominations for the 97th Academy Awards will be announced on January 17. Reznor and Ross have previously won two Academy Awards for Best Original Score for their work on The Social Network and Soul.
