A Warning Has Just Been Issued To Amazon Customers
Amazon customers need to be on alert regarding a recent email supposedly sent by the company.
If you received it, you may have been inclined to click on the link in the email after “Amazon” informed you that you needed to reset your account password.
Other variations of the email include an “issue” with a recent order or an update needed to your shipping address.
Once the customer clicks on the link, they are redirected to a lookalike Amazon page that asks the customer for their username and current password.
Once you provide your information, the scammer has access to ALL of your account information, including your credit card.
And, it appears they aren’t wasting any time helping themselves to purchases on your credit card.
According to WSBTV, the scammers are immediately using your credit card to buy instant gifts such as gift cards that can be delivered to them electronically.
At this time, Amazon has not been able to trace the scam back to the person responsible.
Amazon is urging customers to go directly to their account to login rather than clicking on a link in an email to access their account, as this prevents scammers from accessing your information.
