New Study Says Swearing During a Workout Provides for a Better Workout
Hate your spin instructor just as much as I hate mine? Next time you’re in class, you may want to consider telling them how you really feel, because you’ll get a better workout.
A new study from Science Daily finds that “swearing can have a ‘pain-lessening effect’,” thus, allowing people to power through a bike or spinning workout with more intensity. Another study from U.K.’s Keele University found that people who cursed during a handgrip test registered a higher rating compared to those that used “neutral” words (aka: non-swears.)
In other words: Forget etiquette rules! Swear away, because working out is hard work! It’s not all fun and games like in this recent “SoulCycle” skit from Saturday Night Live.
