Juvenile Alligator Abandoned In Neptune
On Sunday, January 15th, a juvenile alligator was found abandoned in a plastic storage container on Bangs Avenue in Neptune.
The Monmouth County SPCA Animal Control was dispatched to the scene where a resident discovered the 3-foot alligator.
The alligator was brought back to the shelter after being left out in below-freezing temperatures late Sunday night to be given proper care and a clean tank.
“It is illegal for New Jersey residents to keep alligators or caimans, which are considered potentially dangerous exotic species. Not only is it a danger to the public, but these animals, when kept in captivity, need very specific care that only professionals can provide,” Executive Director of the MCSPCA, Ross Licitra stated in a press release.
The MCSPCA is asking that if you have any information about the owner of this alligator to please get in touch with Humane Law Enforcement Chief Mike Goldfarb at 732-440-1539 (calls may remain anonymous).
The alligator will be transferred to the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife.

My cat used to drink of the sink. She would jump up on the counter (or sometimes scream at me to pick her up so she could be on the counter) and then demand that I turn on the faucet for her.
