VARIOUS CITIES - SEPTEMBER 05: People walk along the Asbury Park boardwalk on September 05, 2020 in Asbury Park, NJ, United States. The fourth phase allows outdoor arts and entertainment, sporting events without fans and media production.

An iconic Asbury Park boardwalk restaurant will be saying goodbye to its customers after 14 years of serving their community. The Langosta Lounge, will close indefinitely next month, according to its owner per NJ Advance Media. The restaurant is set to close on Feb. 4. according to The Marilyn Schlossbach Group which is named after the owner of several New Jersey restaurants.

BarCo Brands will be taking over the Langosta Lounge and will begin renovating the restaurant this year. According to the outlet, a grand opening is set for April 2024. The restaurant will stay open this summer under a different name that has yet to be announced.

As to why Langosta Lounge is closing, the owner says the unprecedented events in the last few years have made it hard to keep the business afloat.

“I have been struggling with this place for a few years,'” Schlossbach told NJ Advance Media. “COVID exacerbated that. This past year was the most difficult I’ve had since Sandy.'”

The Langosta was not an ordinary lounge. It also served as a restaurant and music entertainment venue for several years. They were best known for their chicken salad, poke nachos and extensive cocktail list.

Langosta Lounge spoke about what it meant to serve the Asbury Park community for so long in an heartfelt Instagram post.

“After 14 years of food, community, and a passion for the restaurant and music scene, Marilyn Schlossbach and Scott Szegeki are stepping away from the Asbury Park Langosta Lounge Pavilion,” the post began.

“Two pioneers of Asbury Park who have touched the lives of countless individuals, creating a community that’s more than just employees and customers, but a true Ohana, are turning their focus to a new venture within Whitechapel Projects in neighboring Long Branch just a few towns down the road.”

The restaurant then showed gratitude to all of the guests who have walked into their doors over the years, “We’d like to say thank you to all of the faces who have worked so hard, to those who have come time and time again to enjoy our vacation cuisine, share a laugh, a drink, or listen to some tunes. Thank you for a lifetime of memories, let’s do it again!”
