Jersey Magazine with Jim Monaghan

October is National Children’s Health Month and this morning on Jersey Magazine, Dr Fernando Ferrer from RWJBarnabas Health joins us.

Recently named Chief Pediatric Officer for RWJBarnabas Health, Dr. Ferrer will serve as Chief Pediatric Physician for RWJBH.

Dr. Ferrer and host Jim Monaghan talk about the doctor’s role at RWJBH, what led him to choosing pediatrics as a specialty, and what we as parents can do to help keep our children healthy.

In addition, numerous RWJBarnabas Health facilities were just named among the nation’s Best Children’s Hospitals for 2024 – 2025 by U.S. News & World Report.

Rock N’ Ruff Returns With Another Great Rescue! Meet Petunia! From The Randolph Regional Animal Shelter

    Petunia on Rock N’ Ruff!

    About Petunia

Rock N’ Ruff is back this week- It’s Terrie Carr and I’m always happy to bring you incredible adoptables from our local shelters! Petunia is a long term resident at The Randolph Regional Animal Shelter –https://www.randolphregionalanimalshelter.org and has been waiting for over a year for her forever home.

Petunia is a high energy gal! Thought to be around 3 years old and some sort of Boxer/Terrier mix. Petunia LOVES to have fun! And her boundless energy makes her a great walking, running or activity partner. Petunia is currently enrolled in a training course with Garden State K9 https://gardenstatek9.com and all reports is she is smart, obedient and ready for a new life. Our friend Sunny Nowell and everyone at the shelter call this girl a staff favorite and the shelter has a fantastic “Foster To Adopt” program that is a great way to find the perfect match and help some of the animals get out of the shelter environment and decompress in a home. Petunia needs some structure, love and attention to help her become the dog we know she can be.

Petunia Met Lee Asher! Star of Animal Planet’s -“My Pack Life”

Our local shelters are beyond full these days, and there are many ways to help if you can’t adopt. Donations are always welcome, Food, Treats, Bedding, Toys, Gift Cards to pet stores are always needed or a monetary donation. If you have a special skill, donate some time to the shelter, or just go and walk some dogs! It’s a great fall activity. WDHA’s Rock N’ Ruff has been highlighting shelter pets for almost 15 years and I’m so proud of the initiative we have developed. With everyone help, dogs like Petunia can find a new beginning. Let’s hope she does too!
