TC Riding Hood, The Wolf and a Pug Tree

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! I LOVE Halloween. For so many reasons. Horror classic are definitely one of them. I have always been a “scream queen” – As a kid Saturday nights were meant for watching “Creature Feature” and Sunday’s were heading to the movies with my dad to check out the horror flick of the season.

While I am a fan of some of the new breed of horror, the classics always give me the best chills…..here are my Top favorites and I highly recommend them for some spooky weekend SCREAMS!!

  • Ben

An army of killer rats? One named Ben that forged a relationship with a boy named Danny and the rest is history! Ben was a protector of Danny and that’s where the craziness starts! This movie made me cry when Ben is Beverly injured at the end (spoiler alert!) and tries to get back to Danny who is crying. No lie, after this movie I got a pet rat.

  • Suspiria

Dario Argento is a master of horror and this creepy classic is set behind a ballet school and is suspenseful and keeps the heart pumping! The commercial/trailer scared the hell out of me as a kid, and the soundtrack lends itself so well to the twists and turns of the story that will leave you breathless! Creeeeeeepy as hell!

  • Black Christmas

This 1974 classic is one of the most frightening, creepy and unnerving movies EVER!!!!! The setting, creepy house and horrifying phone calls……Get ready to feel uncomfortable! There was a remake starring Katie Cassidy that was pretty creepy too.

  • Burnt Offerings

The cast is what makes this movie tick and Karen Black is the QUEEN of horror in this one (although the house is super creepy and I would never stay there on summer holiday!)  with a great performance by the legend Bette Davis. The final scene gets me every time! Mrs. Allandyce lives!

  • Night Of The Living Dead

Such a CLASSIC!! George A. Romero took the farmhouse and made it a horror house! Zombies everywhere and the people trying to evade them, NOTLD is a must see for every horror fan!

  • Phantasm

The Tall Man and the Undertaker , became a horror classics spanning 4 sequels and creeping people out since 1979!

Another final scene that has you jumping out of your drawers!

  • Carrie

Carrie is my favorite horror movie of all time. A Stephen King/ Brian DiPalma classic. I think it is because the story is so relatable and the acting is stellar. Sissy Spacek as Carrie White, a bullied, abused high school student who is sheltered and and innocent. Except for her power. Her abusive mother Margaret White,  is played by the incredible Piper Laurie and the last 30 minutes of this movie terrifies me. Sissy’s epic performance, the Piper Laurie crucifixion scene and the last scene with the hand coming out of the grave, the religious imagery, incredible musical score and incredible cast, this movie terrified me. I still ,love it so!

  • Halloween (the original)

The one that started it all…..Nuff said……CLASSIC!

  • The Exorcist

Still scares the bejeezus out of me! Even with some of the cheesier effects! Can’t watch this one with Rosie (my dog).

    She barks during the exorcism!

  • Poltergeist

This scariest thing about this movie was the real life issues that plagued the cast- Creepy, masterfully acted (especially by the children) Poltergeist doesn’t get the credit it deserves…..”They’re Here”…….always creeps me out!

  • Friday The 13th - (Original )

Filmed in Blairstown baby! The SFX of this movie always get me! And Betsy Palmer is SOOOOOO CREEPY!!

  • Texas Chainsaw Massacre

One of the most terrifying films ever made! Just look at these guys- I didn’t sleep for years!

  • Rosemary's Baby

If you live next door to Minnie and Roman LOOK OUT!! No special effects, all imagination and great acting. Let it take you on a trip!

This might be my #2 of all time!
