I think America is awesome!  I love living here and am a fan of how we do most things.

But are there some things that we could change? Well, YouGov just did a survey asking people if they’d prefer to do certain things the way people do them in other countries. It turns out that there are several things we’d prefer to do differently!

Like these:

  • Have sidewalks everywhere in towns.

70% say they’d like to be able to walk more places safely. Just 13% say no to that. I personally agree with this one.  I take my kids to school in the morning each day and we walk down streets with no sidewalks – it’s a little daunting!

  • Have sales tax included in an item’s price.

68% of us would like to see exactly how much something will cost at the register.  This seems like a no-brainer.  Just tell us how much it costs…….in total!

  • Have servers get paid a better wage instead of relying on tips.

56% are in favor of this, and just 25% like it the way it is. I personally dislike having to worry about a tip.  If someone goes above and beyond, that’s one thing.  But why can’t they just be paid for moderate service and I pay for my meal??

  • Get rid of prescription drug ads on TV.

53% would ditch those commercials, and just 24% would keep them.  These don’t bother me personally.  However, I also don’t see the point.  When it says, “Ask your doctor about such and such drug name”, shouldn’t my doctor be talking to ME about it?  How would I know if I need a certain med?
