Are the horror movies or the creepy television series not scaring or creeping you out enough? Haunted houses where monsters jump out at you and chase you just not getting the scare factor to the level you jones for this time of year?

Well, scroll below to see a few of the real-life haunted houses that you can visit or stay in across the country including one right here in New Jersey. The Hermitage is located in Ho-Ho-Kus and even has ghostly gatherings scheduled throughout the month of October.

    Ann Bartow DeVisme purchase the home (The Hermitage) in 1767. During the Revolutionary War, The Hermitage welcomed guests such as George Washington and his troops. Visitors over the years say they have encountered ghostly presences on the property. It is now said to be one of the top 10 haunted houses in the United States. Today the museum holds a collection of costumes and accessories from the 1700s through the end of the Victorian era.
