VIDEO: Pearl Jam Joined by Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil at Seattle Show
Pearl Jam’s second show of their two-night homestand at Seattle’s Safeco Field featured another major figure from the city’s historic music scene.
Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil, who was donning a Chris Cornell t-shirt, joined the band on stage for a cover of MC5’s “Kick Out The Jams” and Iggy and the Stooges’ “Search and Destroy,” the latter of which also featured Mark Arm and Steve Turner from Mudhoney.
Earlier in the set, Pearl Jam also performed “Missing,” a solo Cornell song from an EP he wrote/recorded as the Singles character Cliff Poncier. Cornell was director Cameron Crowe’s first choice to play the character, but the role eventually went to Matt Dillon due to Soundgarden’s ever-busy schedule.
