David Draiman Brings Fan on Stage, Apologizes for Mosh Pit Behavior
For those that think chivalry is dead, just watch this fan-shot video from a recent Disturbed show.
The video below shows David Draiman addressing a crowd for moshing too hard. The clip cuts out, but its uploader states in the video’s YouTube description that Draiman “…stated it was the mosh pit obligation to protect the women who are not moshing.”
The fan who was roughed up by the mosh pit was later brought on stage. Draiman asked the fan her name (Sammy) and how old she was. To Draiman’s surprise, she revealed she just turned 30. (He thought she was much younger.)
After being blown away by Sammy’s youthful appearance, he said, “On behalf of the gentlemen of Disturbed, I want to apologize for you getting jumped into our gang…Call me ‘old-fashioned,’ [but] there are some crazy idiots out there who would call me sexist for insisting on protecting a woman…Anyone who isn’t as strong as you deserves your protection, do you understand me?”
Sammy was then offered “the best seat in the house” for the band’s next song: A spot on the drum riser.
Way to go to Draiman for making things right. Once again, next time you’re in the pit, practice safe moshing. Don’t potentially ruin someone’s night just because you choose not to control yourself.
