7 Songs Rob Zombie & Marilyn Manson Should Cover Next
Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson covered The Beatles’ “Helter Skelter” last year as part of their “Twins of Evil” tour. Since they are joining forces on the road again this summer, they’re looking to do another cover, and Zombie is looking for suggestions.
Zombie took to his Instagram and wrote, “We did Helter Skelter. We are looking for some good ideas for another possible collaboration. I know I will get lots of goofy responses but I am seriously looking for a good idea.”
Looking for a good idea, Rob? Check out these seven!
“Sympathy For The Devil” – The Rolling Stones
Perhaps a bit of an obvious choice since they already covered The Beatles, but you just know Zombie and Manson would add a very unique sinister edge this Stones classic.
“Season of the Witch” – Donovan
The psychedelic/folk hit from Donovan has massive potential to be turned into a metal monster in the hands of Zombie and Manson. Plus, it’ll help introduce more people to Donovan, which is an added bonus.
“Shout At The Devil” – Motley Crue
Semi-topical considering the recent release of the film adaptation of The Dirt, a Zombie/Manson cover of this Crue hit already has the blessing of Nikki Sixx, who recommended the song in the comment section of Zombie’s aforementioned Instagram post.
“I Put A Spell On You” – Screamin’ Jay Hawkins
Manson covered this track on his 1995 EP Smells Like Children, but it would be interesting to see him revisit “I Put A Spell On You” with the addition of Zombie and make an already dark cover even darker.
“Red Right Hand” – Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds
An already creepy track, a Zombie/Manson cover of this Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds song would be brought to the next level with a strange video or other visuals that can be projected when the “Twins of Evil” perform the song on tour.
“I Love The Dead” – Alice Cooper
If Zombie and Manson are looking to pay homage in some way with this cover, there really isn’t a more appropriate artist to choose than Alice Cooper. They could choose a number of different songs from Cooper’s catalog, but you just know Zombie and Manson would have a lot of fun with “I Love The Dead.” At the end of it all, isn’t that the whole point of those two covering a song?
“I Got You Babe” – Sonny & Cher
Okay, fine! Maybe this falls under the “goofy responses” category Zombie mentioned in his Instagram post, but it would be hilarious to hear his and Manson’s take on this classic love song. Also, I’d be curious to see who would be Sonny and who would be Cher.
